A trip to the Middle Ages

BOLA-Adventure Day 2011: Gruensfeld/Bensheim – Team spirit and solidarity are important requirements fort he success of every enterprise. Bohlender GmbH is proud of its extraordinary solidarity which was visible on Friday, 8th July and which brought a lot of fun for all who joined the BOLA Adventure Day 2011. This year, the traditional trip for all staff members of BOLA, the internationally working manufacturer of labware made of PTFE, was a very special journey through time.

At 9 o’clock a.m. , all 43 members of staff started this special trip together with managing director Volker Bohlender. After a 1,5 hours bus ride, the BOLA team arrived in the Middle Ages. At castle Alsbach near Bensheim, the „knights“ were welcomed with a snack and then divided into groups of each 10 persons. As first task, each team of knights had to design its own emblem. Then the teams with their strange names like “Badner Vögte“, „Siccfrieds“, „die Ritter der Kokosnuss“ and „BOSICCOLA“ , had to proof their skills as knights by roping down from a wall of the castle.

After lunch, the teams started one after the other to a three-hour tour with a lot of tricky tests and tasks. Which team will pass the malicious sling at first? Which team will transport most of the witch’s drink? Not only team spirit, creativity and skill were needed, but also precision and solidarity were necessary, for example for archery. The knights met all the challenges with a lot of enthusiasm. “The tasks are quite tricky, but I still have a lot of fun” said Steffan Brennfleck, apprentice (2nd year). Afterwards, the knights met again at castle Auerbach. Finally, the four teams had to join together to “enter” the castle. In the courtyard, the teams were served a topical aperitif: honey-sweet mead. Afterwards, there was a baronial menu in the great hall including a taster, but no cutlery! The award ceremony was highly anticipated by all teams. Most of the points gained the team named “Ritter der Kokosnuss”. But also the other three teams had made a good competition and enjoyed a nice BOLA Adventure Day. “What a great day” said managing director Volker Bohlender, “I am proud of my staff. With the team spirit that has been shown today we will keep Bohlender GmbH on the road of success”. After an exciting and adventurous day, the BOLA knights returned at around 9 o’clock p.m., in best humour and highly motivated to reach many further aims.
