BOHLENDER Adventure Day 2013

GRÜNSFELD/ENDERNDORF. On Friday, 21st June 2013 the time had come: BOHLENDER´s Adventure Day, that takes place every 2 years, was just around the corner. The excited company´s staff set out for valley „Altmühl“ („Altmühltal“) where exciting adventures were waiting for them to strengthen their team spirit

Punctually at 7.45 a.m., the 51 employees that were equipped with uniform "Adventure Day"-Shirts started their trip to the Altmühl valley in a deluxe bus together with the company´s president Volker Bohlender. They arrived in Enderndorf at ideal temperatures and were separated in two teams who had to manage different challenges. After a snack, they started their day. The first team got Segways and helmets and after a short briefing and tips for the handling of the high-tech vehicles by four professionals, they made careful test drives and started their exploration tour round Lake Igelsbach. After a one-hour round trip with a great view over the lake and the beautiful landscape, all Segway drivers arrived safely at the meeting point.

The second team was on a tour in the "Adventure Forest". Every member got a climbing harness and after a detailed briefing, they made their first climbing trials and discovered the forest in dizzy heights. Seven stations with different levels of difficulty could be climbed. At the end of every station, a cable way lead to the safe ground. Quite some of the employees reached beyond their personal limits. The highlight in the climbing park was the passing of Lake Igelsbach with the longest cable descent in Germany (approx. 550 m). At first, the employees had to climb the 25m tall tree from where they started their "flight" for approx. 2 minutes with a great view over the seascapes and the environment. A speed of 28 km/h was achieved. Astonishing many employees participated in this adventure and arrived on the other lakeshore with more or less trembling knees but filled with enthusiasm.

Both teams reunited for lunch at the meeting point "Adventure Forest" for a typical Franconian meal where they exchanged first experiences. After lunch, the climbers got on to the "Segways" and the segway-drivers into the "Adventure Forest".

In the afternoon, all BOHLENDER employees boarded on a trimaran for a tour on Lake "Brombach". Many of them enjoyed the setting sun on deck and strengthened themselves afterwards at the Franconian buffet. With many new impressions and enthusiasm, all employees returned to Gruenseld from the BOHLENDER Adventure Day, highly motivated for new challenges.
